Guidelines for Verbal Appeals - Live

As Chief Justice of KSI I am happy to welcome Verbal Court Cases to our great community. This will allow us to better serve the members of the community by giving an option to verbally discussing a court case rather than typing messages back and forth. These verbal cases will take place in Discord. These cases will be recorded for documentation and will be posted publicly for transparency no later than a week from when the case ends.

**Verdict will be posted 1 hour after trial ends in the forum post**

Guidelines for Appealing Members

  • Appealing member will post what times and days will work best for them between the hours of 7:00 pm and 10:30 pm Eastern Time.
    • Appealing member is responsible for making sure he/she and their witnesses are present for the court date set.
    • You may reschedule one time at least 3 hours before the start of a case.
    • Once a member decides to do a verbal court case, they may not revert back to a normal forum case.
      • Only a the Chief Justice may approve an override to this rule on a case by case basis.
    • Appealing member and witnesses must be present in the appealing waiting area at least 10 minutes before the trial begins.
  • Appealing member is responsible for gathering all evidence they wish to submit.
    • Evidence must be submitted at least 24 hours before the trial begins so judges may review. 
    • Please source your evidence, it will go a long way in providing credibility to what we are reviewing.
    • Evidence will be submitted to the "Appealing Member Evidence" chat.
  • Appealing member will be given 3 minutes to give their opening statements.
    • During this time no one will interrupt you.
    • Witnesses will be given 2 minutes each to give their statements.
    • Both appealing member and witnesses are responsible for their actions during a live case.
      • disrespect and lying will result in disciplinary actions.
  • Judges will be given 5 minutes each to question you, a witness, or leader. 
    • You may not interrupt a Judge while they are speaking.
    • You may not argue with a Judge.
    • A Judge may ask you to give your response fast due to their limited time.

 

Guidelines for KSI Leaders

  • Leaders will be subpoena if they are involved in a case regarding the appealing member.
    • Leaders must post what days and times work for them between the hours of 7:00 pm and 10:30 pm.
      • Leaders caught lying about their availability will be subjected to disciplinary actions.
      • A court case will take priority over any other meeting in KSI.   
      • Superior may request meeting with Chief Justice if they disagree with the subpoena.
      • Leaders and witnesses must be present in the leader waiting area at least 10 minutes before the trial begins.
      • Leader may send their subordinate as a proxy in their stead.
    • Leaders are responsible for making sure he/she and their witnesses are present for the court date set.
      • You may reschedule one time at least 3 hours before the start of a case.
      • Case will proceed as scheduled on 2nd date set after rescheduling, not being present will weaken your case against the appealing member.
  • Leaders must submit all evidence against the member 24 hours in advance for review.
    • This is done by submitting it to the "Leader Evidence Chat".
    • Please source your evidence, this will help bring credibility to what the Judges are reading.
  • Leaders will be given 3 minutes for their opening statement.
    • No one will interrupt you.
    • Witnesses are given 2 minutes for their opening statement.
    • Bother leaders and witnesses are responsible for their actions.
      • Disrespect or lying will result in disciplinary actions.
  • Judges will be given 5 minutes each to question you, a witness, or the appealing member. 
    • You may not interrupt a Judge while they are speaking.
    • You may not argue with a Judge.
    • A Judge may ask you to give your response fast due to their limited time.

 

Guidelines for Judges

  • Judges will be assigned to the case
    • Judges must post what days and times work for them between the hours of 7:00 pm and 10:30 pm.
      • Judge caught lying about their availability will be subjected to disciplinary actions.
    • Judges must be present in the "Court Room" 15 minutes before the start of a case.
  • Senior Judge will announce the start of the case and members will be pulled into the "Court Room"
    • Senior judge will issue official start of case and will announce date and time of start of case and name the appealing member and what they are appealing for the record.
    • Senior Judge will be responsible for maintaining order during the trial.
    • Senior Judge will give the associate judges a few seconds to finish their notes after each opening statement and inform the next person when to begin by announcing their name.
  • Judges will be given 5 minutes to ask the appealing member, a witness, or a leader questions.
    • Senior Judge will give a few seconds after time is up to finish taking notes and will announce the next judge's name to begin. 
  • Judges are responsible for their actions.
    • Disrespect towards the appealing member, witnesses, or leaders will result in their immediate removal from the KSI Courts. 
  • Chief Justice will be allowed 3 minutes to ask any questions he/she feels may have been missed to any of the participants of the trial. 

 

We are excited to get this going and see the benefit this will bring to our great community. As Chief Justice I will continue to develop services and policies that will benefit all of the members from KSI equally and fairly.
