Globally popular battle royale and survival game Fortnite has been receiving frequent updates in the last few months. Developers Epic Games are working tirelessly to push out content and fixes for their dedicated fanbase.
Fortnite has created a community of its own in the gaming world. Played by people worldwide on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Streamers, viewers, clans, and friends all come together to enjoy this wonderful game.
Today Epic Games made a surprising but exciting announcement of Fortnite coming to mobile! Their already huge community will now be growing even more with this great leap.
"We believe this is the future of games. The same game on all platforms. Console quality graphics and action. Play when you want, where you want." - Epic Games, 3/8/18.
What's even more interesting is that Epic Games state Fortnite: Battle Royale (Mobile) will be cross-platform with PlayStation 4 and PC. It will be interesting to see how that works out.
Epic Games encourage players to take part in the beta for the mobile version. The event will be invite-only and only for iOS users (Sorry Android!).
On March 12th or thereafter, head over to www.fortnite.com to sign up for the event. EG stated that invites will start rolling out soon thereafter.
Invite emails will come with a link to the game on the App Store. If you receive an invite email you will also receive extra links for you and some friends! What fun would it be alone, eh? If you don't get an invite email straight away, no worries, EG ensure that more invites will be sent out in months to come.
Android users have been promised that the game will come to them sometime in the next few months.
    Participation requirements:
    -Internet connection
    -iOS 11

    The Review - Bright

Hello! Welcome back! All that jazz. Last month I said we’d be starting an installment of reviews on entertainment items and for those that read it, this is the second installment. The topic this time? Bright. The movie is a Netflix original that came out last month starring Will Smith.
So! Did you enjoy Suicide Squad? My first impression of the movie was that it gives off an eerily similar feel. No doubt that’s because it shares some of the same directors. It has an almost... cartoonish feel with the CGI and animation that went into the production process. On that note, the make up and special effects in the movie are as well done as any that I’ve seen recently.
To avoid spoilers I won’t mention any details regarding the storyline, however, I will say that it’s a little far fetched. The backstory is almost a representation of the political events happening now. Although I’ve gotten mixed reviews from others who have watched it, personally I’m a fan. Will Smith is a great actor and by no means did he disappoint in this one. His character was salty and pretty bada** at the same time.
It’s very easy to follow the chain of events that take place currently, though I do think the movie would have been far more enjoyable as a series. There was plenty of action going on, car chases, gunfights, magic, and a lot of epic stuff. My only real gripe is that so much goes unexplained, the backstory isn’t laid out that well and just jumping in current day seems almost a waste. There were a ton of great things that were hinted at and never expanded on.
If it’s on your watch list I highly recommend watching it, it’s not a bad way to spend a few hours. If you’re like me and think there should be so much more, do me a favor and call the writers and directors and politely yell at them. Either way, it’s worth the time and I could definitely watch it again!

    Another Year Come and Gone

    Another year come and gone
Well gamers it is now a brand-new year in 2018, and as in any gaming community, we dealt with the good and the bad in 2017, and here we are thriving at the end of another year. Coming into our 15th year of being a community let’s take a minute and go through some of the events of last year
We started 2017 we have had many divisions here is the list, Wolf Den (Xbox 360), Synthetic Reality, Twisted Reality, Reality Dynasty, Final Reality, Hell Fire, Immortal Empire, Lost Empire, Arcane Kings, Phoenix Rising, Evil Ties, Semper Fi, Xiled God’s, Blades of the Eternal, and Fatal Genesis. Going into 2018 we are left strong with Reality Dynasty, Synthetic Dynasty, Xiled God’s, Semper Fi, and Fatal Genesis. We also lost members, leaders, and friends, but through all that this community stayed thriving on the guidelines it was founded on, to create a safe and fun environment for gamers to dwell.
This community also gave back this past year in two different charity events. One of which was for the AFSP (American Foundation of Suicide Prevention), in which we raised a total of around 450$. The other charity was for Child’s Play which is a charity that donates toys and games to hospitals worldwide. Our goal for this charity was 500$, but we surpassed that, and raised a total of 1,015$ for them. We also landed Cinch Gaming as a sponsor this year, they sell custom game controllers and other accessories.
In another of year gaming, I encourage the new members to look towards your leaders, learn from them as you are the future of KSI, and with your help we will make it another year as a community. Above else remember people come and go, but KSI will never die.

    2017 Of the Year Winners!

With another year in the books, it’s that time! The 2017 Of the Year votes have been counted, tallied, and considered for each award. 2017 was a bit rough for all of us, but for those that preserver the efforts are recognized and the rewards, endless. Thus I present to you the winners in each category for 2017:
Director of the Year: KSI Space Ops 7
Division Leader of the Year: KSI Huckleberry
Co-Division Leader of the Year: KSI Zeuswrath 7

Take a moment this week to congratulate these members of the KSI family and pick their brains a little of how to be a successful leader! Many were considered for each spot, though with the requirements set many who deserve a spot on the list were also ineligible. If you didn’t win or weren’t eligible this year, let us not forget that 2018 is upon us and with it, your chance to be recognized for the success you bring to KSI.

    PSN Name Change?

Getting the perfect gamertag, for PSN players it’s a maddening thing to talk about; see for the PSN, your gamer tag is attached to your custom email address. Once set you are stuck with it, you can only change your first and last name or create a whole new account. Think for a minute and ask yourself how many times throughout the years have you changed your gamertag on the Xbox? Owning a PSN based console is not for those who have commitment issues. Now I know some will argue and say you can just make a new account, no harm there. For those people I would like to remind you all that yeah while that’s an excellent idea it’s a headache to transfer over all your friends onto the new account, it’s time-consuming, your friends will get tired of it if you keep making new accounts and say goodbye to all your achievements. To get around this headache of a problem you merely change your first and last name on your account and keep your gamertag the same right? But even that gets old fast. Imagine watching Xbox and PC players just be able to change their names whenever they please while you can’t for years on end.
Out of annoyance, rationalizing or just hope people eventually began to start rumors about the possibility of one day maybe just maybe the PSN allowing their players to change their names and get the same options on personalization all other gamers have had for far too long. At the PlayStation experience,  players were given a reason to continue to hope. Shawn Layden was quick from the beginning of the discussion to let people know that while elves were working on allowing players to change their PSN names, that from merely a technical standpoint it’s a lot harder than you think to correct this issue. He also stated, in his own opinion, Shawn hoped that they would be able to offer the players this feature by PSX 2018 mainly, so he didn’t have to answer this question for another consecutive year in a row. That may not be much, but considering the fact over the years they keep giving new reasons or excuses for the problem of why it’s not offered and taking into account this is the first time we have a possible timeline even if it’s stated as a personal opinion.  I will run with it and hope that by this time next year our PSN members are allowed to change up their names whenever they see fit.

    KSI Events - January

With the first month of 2018 finally here, there are a few things every KSI member should know. Among them, the list of events held by the KSI T&E Team! This month there are many events planned no matter what you play. Die hard Halo gamer? Call of Duty loyalist? Or perhaps you’re more of a Rainbow Six shooter? Either way this month has something for you.
The highlight of the month is a Rainbow Six Seige Tournament on January 13th, but there are many other activities to get involved in.

    What is a Leader?

    What is a Leader?
What do you think of when you hear the words Leadership or Leader? The first thing that comes to mind for a few of us is our Generals, Majors, Co-Founders, or Division leaders. Truth be told being a “Leader” isn’t defined by rank, even if some will argue anyone above you is your leader. If you feel compelled to earn the formal title of one that’s easy: Join a squad, change your name to include KSI, recruit quality members and train them. When you have a handle on that it's time to start stepping up; maybe host a workshop, recruit more members, be active and your effort will be recognized and rewarded by gaining a rank with a job description. Anyone can do it, but there is more to being a leader than just that.
Whenever I think back on what leadership means to me, I always remember the days when life was simple and the way we identified leaders was by who was chosen to be one in a game of follow the leader. We didn’t have to talk things out, or if we were the leader, we didn’t have to worry about those who followed us. We merely had fun, lived in the moment, and did not have to think of how our efforts or actions impact those around us. When I take those precious memories and compare them to what I know today, I realized leaders walk a fine line between success and failure now. We can’t just live in the moment all the time, as a leader you have people relying on you; one mistake, and you could feel like you failed them. Balancing on that line all the time and being pushed always to succeed is a lot of pressure for those who put their team's needs above their own.
I know all of this is based on personal opinion and perception but, how I identify a leader is someone who displays specific ethical characteristics. I want to see them strive to be in a good moral standing for themselves and their team. Be unbiased, never rash on their judgment calls. Try not to be too harsh or soft with their team but mainly be adaptive to your squad. No two situations will be the same, so we as leaders need to be able to fill in whenever necessary to achieve success as a whole.
Now take a moment to reflect.
    What makes for good leadership?
How can you identify someone as a leader? Are they born, raised or trained into being a proper leader? Who out there is a real leader to you?

    Recruiting at a New Level

With a new year comes new possibilities and new opportunities, among them, a new department. KSI will begin the new year by instituting a new department in the hopes of increasing the size of the community. With the numbers being a bit unstable in recent months, many are excited about the new change. Since KSI is continuously trying to futurize itself; this is a major step towards doing so.
The department will be lead by KSI Mrs Euphii. With experience in running a department similar to this, she seems very well suited for this position. Though she won’t be alone, as always, it’s on all of us dedicated to the very heart of KSI to ensure that we do our part to see this new department succeed and allow KSI to redevelop into the powerhouse community it once was. The department will be using all forms of social media from Twitter to YouTube to help streamline and attract new members to join the community.
There is a great deal of pressure on the new department, as is the nature of the beast due to it being a fresh concept. With the weight of the responsibility, we certainly hope that we can all aid in the success of KSI. So, if you’ve got an ear to the ground and an eye to the sky, don’t be afraid to apply to join the Recruitment Department. At the same time, tell your friends, wives, kids, or whomever; If they want to join the family, there is always an open seat.

    Merry Christmas KSI Global

Alas the Christmas season is upon us. A time for family, for giving, for receiving, for spending time by the fire and enjoying the company if those closest. However, not everyone has such opportunity. For those spending Christmas alone or in sadness, remember, KSI is a family. We encourage you to approach us and reach out to us with any concerns or even to simply exchange conversation. If you need a friend or company during ANY point of the season, please get in touch with me or any other member of the KSI family.
2017 has been quite the year for KSI Global. Those of you who are still standing and are reading this, give yourselves an awkward pat on the back. You stayed when the rest left. You stayed when times got tough. You stayed loyal to the community and for that, we thank you.
People will come and go, but KSI will never die.
    Merry Christmas

    A Christmas-Eve Story

‘Twas the night before Christmas and the Adams family was preparing for the celebration. Joey was writing his 3rd wish list, adding something more with each addition, his new desire was the Xbox One X. Sarah was helping her mother bake cookies in the kitchen, cutting them out in the shapes of snowmen, stars, and Christmas trees. Dad was outside shoveling the driveway, turning on the Christmas lights and waiting to sneak the rest of the gifts in the house.
With the driveway clean, the cookies in the oven, and the wish list under the tree, the Adams gathered in the living room to watch A Christmas Story and enjoying family time together. The wind was blowing outside, snow falling, and the moon rising in the sky as there was a knock on the door. Dad arose from his seat, slowly wandered to the door and opened it to be met by nothing more than the brisk winter air chilling him to the bone.
Once finished with the movie and tucking in the children, Mom and Dad set out the Christmas cookies, locked the doors and slipped their gifts to Sarah and Joey under the tree. With that, they headed to bed and were asleep before the cookies had cooled, but Joey’s night wasn’t finished.
After opening one eye to make sure his room was empty, he crept to the door and slid it open slowly. He peeked into the hall and with his parents sound asleep he snuck downstairs and made it to the cookie tray without a peep. His eyes widened as he stared down at them, mouth-watering slightly, he took hold of one and shoved it in his mouth.
His bite was cut short as he heard another knock on the door. He started to walk towards the door, unconcerned as he savored the cookie he was still chewing on. With a gust of wind and a loud swoosh the door swung open, and Joey’s eyes widened evenfurther. There, standing just outside the doorway was a man with a large white beard and an even greater belly, all wrapped up in a red outfit.
Joey’s mouth twisted up, butas his eyes made their way to the man’s hand, he couldn’t help but smile. In the stranger's hand was a green and black box, inside a new Xbox. Slowly, as if with great effort, the man held the gift out to Joey. Joey walked forward, each step silent, to not wake his parents. Before Joey made it close enough to touch the new Xbox the man clapped his hands together and from between them crumbled nothing but lumps of broken coal.
Before Joey could even begin to tear up two small elves rushed past Santa and grabbed Joey by each arm. They put a green hat on him and drug him out the front door. With a whisp, the door slid shut, and Santa began his walk back to his sled. Chuckling, he climbed into his seat and yelled out for all the children to hear,
“I will have my cookies, or I will have a new Elf!”

The Review - Game of Thrones

Today marks a new era in KSI News; we will be expanding our horizons in many different ways in the weeks to come. To kick this off, we will be starting a series revolving around TV shows, movies, books, and game reviews. Now, let’s talk about a book turned TV series that became a hit beyond what anyone could imagine; I’m talking about Game of Thrones of course. The book series A Song of Ice and Fire was on my favorites list before I had ever watched a single episode of the show. Book one, A Game of Thrones, with a large number of pages, started out a bit slow for me as I wasn’t hooked until about the middle of the book; however after I made it that far I couldn’t put it down. Book two, A Clash of Kings, continued the story right where the first left off and I had finished it within a week. The remaining books, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, and A Dance with Dragons, took less than six weeks to finish. Now being that I was in love with the books, I was scared to ruin it by watching the show.
As we all well know, the adaptations never quite live up to the hype. However! By the end of the first episode, I was in awe. I binge watched every season from 1-6 within a month and was shocked. The show was just as story-telling, action-packed, exciting and all around attractive as the books. Somewhere in the 6th-7th seasons the show surpassed the published books. However, the producers are working with the author to complete the series as he intends to finish the books. The 7th season was especially exciting as I hadn’t read most of what happens yet. If I had to nitpick, the only downfalls of the show currently are that the final season won’t air until sometime in 2019 and the worst part yet, that it must end at all. In summary, if you enjoy action, fantasy, dragons, sexy scenes, and a story that can attract anyone, this is definitely worth watching and reading. Note that the books and show both contain a lot of adult content, so it may not be the show to watch with the kids. If I had to give a rating, altogether this series would get 4.5 stars.

    PubG vs Fortnite

Alright, guys, PubG was released on Xbox One as a game preview on December 12th, and there has been a lot of comparisons between it and Fortnite. I am here to give my opinion on both and compare the two. Both Fortnite and PubG are great games, but there are a couple of differences between the two that can make a difference in which game you prefer.
So, talking about PubG, it has been a long awaited game for Xbox One gamers, and I have to say it is a little different than most games in regards to controls. The controls seem a little sluggish, but what can you expect from a game that is currently in a Beta stage for the console. One thing they do have is the ability to add attachments to the guns you pick up, I like the ability to add a scope and barrel to an assault rifle. There are also vehicles around the map that you can use to get yourself to locations faster. As it is only a 30fps game, unless you are on the Xbox One X in which case it is 60fps, it may not be the best in terms in regards to graphics. I do think it is a great game, but it has a couple quirks that need to be adjusted especially the controls.
Now when comparing Fortnite to PubG, there are a couple of differences that make each game unique in their own aspects. In Fortnite, you have the ability to build yourself cover and give yourself or your team an edge over the opposition. In PubG, you have to use the cover you can find, so you must be more careful when you are running around collecting loot. PubG on the other hand, allows you to have a scope, while in Fortnite you must have a sniper or marksman rifle in scope. In Fortnite you have rarities which determine the damage, but comparing that to PubG, some guns cause more DPS than others.
All said and done, I think both are great games but are played with different mindsets and tactics. With PubG, I see it being more tactical. When do I look from the cover? Do I use single shot or full auto? With Fortnite, I see it being more strategic. Do I build a little base here? Do I pick this fight? Granted both games are strategic and tactical, I see one leaning a little more to one side than the other. Keep in mind this is all opinionated so don’t count one game out completely based solely on my opinion.

    Advice from a KSI Leader

Coming from a leader who has been around the block a few times, I can tell you that the only thing in KSI that stays constant is, ironically, change. I first joined KSI in January 2011 and since have had my fair share of ups and downs throughout my time in KSI. I am sure many of those reading this may also have experienced/are experiencing similar situations (and if not, you for sure will). I have learned countless amounts of skills through all the consequences and improvements that my actions have caused over the years to promote change or, in fact, prevent change. I would like to share the number one thing that I have learned that if everyone in the community worked on together, we could make KSI better, stronger, and healthier today and that is to stay true to yourself and your beliefs and not being afraid to express it.
What does being true to yourself mean? Can’t that be seen as egotistical? Although it can be turned into an ego quickly if handled properly, staying true to yourself is the best thing you can do for your KSI Career. Obviously, we can’t always agree with every way different situations are handled in KSI, but that being said, we can’t also fear to be wrong. If you start allowing others to model you after themselves you lose your creativity and individuality, thus muting out many amazing ideas / ideas-to-be that you could share with KSI. Once everyone is thinking alike, KSI becomes a sort of boring, grey place where there is no real gain as we are apart of the community. Far too often I have seen people hold back an idea because it may just sound too silly to be feasible to implement into KSI when in reality they are so close to the best solution.
When we hold your voice back it also takes away the chances for dialogue between yourself and other’s ideas that actually could lead to the best solution for any issue that KSI could throw out at you. Allowing one person think of the rest of us is selfless. We then have no one to blame but ourselves when we don’t agree with the direction of the community and felt it could have gone better. You can’t expect to always have the support of many but simply voicing your idea in a constructive manner is always accepted in KSI. Tell your leadership “Hey, I have an idea that I would like to share on how I think this could be better” or “Could we try out this idea?” I can assure you that not a single leader in KSI would ever tell you no, never going to happen or to leave them alone and drop it. So long as you keep it positive and express interest in helping the entire squad, division, or community, it will never be seen as ego, rather, it is seen as amazing leadership qualities!
What is amazing about KSI is that if you take outside of KSI and take that tip into your real life, you may notice positive changes there too. As humans, we have this social pressure to be right 100% of the time so we would rather not take the risk of being wrong, so we hush up. I am by no means saying that once you voice your opinions/thoughts that you automatically are correct, that would be too ideal, but there is that chance for change. Feel free to have KSI be a sort of testing ground if you are too afraid to try this out in your personal life at this point. Try using your voice in your squad/division and give constructive help/thoughts/ ideas/opinions and see the changes that occur. If I had had this information sooner in my KSI Career I think I could have gotten way more out of KSI, so I encourage you all to at the very least, try.

    EA and Pay to Win

EA has announced that they are removing the ability to purchase in-game money from their new bestseller title Star Wars Battlefront 2 after hundreds of thousands of gamers sounded off their discontent for the ever increasing cost of playing and progressing in EA’s game.
Pay to win has been a strategy used by some of the largest AAA game developers over the past several years. The model is simple: either the gamer grinds out endlessly for your gear and unlocks, or your hand over your hard earned money for the upgrades and unlocks. Now, I don’t think that all pay to win is bad. I for one, am a busy person. Sometimes, I don’t have time to grind out a game for 200 hours just to unlock that shiny sniper rifle, and to be honest, I would gladly surrender $5 to have that weapon. But would I pay $5 for every piece of gear, weapon, perk, and character? Well, not when games have more options and customizations than ever before. You can easily spend hundreds, and even thousands of dollars on progression unlocks for a single game.
For the past several years, Electronic Arts have gone all in with the pay to win model. Whether it’s player packs on FIFA or loot crates on their Battlefield titles, it’s obvious that EA wants to adopt this model across all of their games.
Days before the official release of the highly anticipated Star Wars Battlefront 2, over 500,000 Reddit users down-voted an EA staff members comments defending the pay to play economy. This comment became the most down-voted comment in Reddit history. It didn’t stop there. After pressure from the gaming community, EA announced that not only would they reduce the price of in-game characters, but they would be removing the ability to purchase “crystals” with cash entirely.
So back to the original question: Is this move by EA indicative of the beginning of the end of pay to win games? Chances are: No. While this unprecedented move by EA is a step in the right direction, it just begins to scratch the surface on an issue that runs much deeper. In a world where the mobile app market is dominated by “freemium” games, I doubt EA and other developers will be changing their methods anytime soon because so far, it has been working and people will pay hundreds of dollars to have the best FIFA Ultimate Team.

2017 Of the Years Process Announcement

KSI Global is approaching the end of another year and that means it is time to start the Of the Year process. In 2017 we will be doing things just a bit different than previous years and we want to announce the entire process and important dates ahead of time.
We will start taking public nominations December 1st of this year until the 15th and nominations will be collected privately through google forms and will not be released to the public. Once the individuals and others involved have made decisions based on a set of guidelines it will then be announced on a twitch stream either January 15th or 16th.  The stream may also contain the 2018 Hall of Fame inductees and if not will be posted at a later time.
As the process goes further details will be released so keep eyes out to the website.

    Update to Xbox Avatars

We have all spent some serious time in creating our Xbox Live avatars over the years since their introduction to the Xbox 360 in late 2008. Whether we made them look comparable to how we look in person or end up becoming Master Chief in a tuxedo top, short shorts, and combat boots, we all have come to enjoy the characters that represent us while on Xbox Live. The selection of how we can make our avatars look though hasn’t changed much at all over the 9 years that they have been apart of the Xbox Live experience. There were numerous minor changes, such as the addition of the prop store, but the selection choices kept our characters very limited on how far / how close to ourselves we could push the avatar; that however is about to change!
At the most recent E3 conference, the Vice President of Xbox, Mike Ybarra, revealed the updates to the avatar editor, calling it Avatar 2.0, that was supposed to originally be released Fall 2017. This week, Mike Ybarra tweeted out informing Xbox Users that the upgrade is being pushed back to early 2018 now, however from the teasers and images promoting the upgrade, as Mike says in his tweet, “patience pays off”.
As seen in the article image, the level of customization is mass compared to what it currently allows. The diversity that Xbox is allowing users to consider is extremely mass too as the promotion video (linked at the bottom of the article) shows avatars in wheelchairs, prosthetic limbs, and even allowing for avatars to wear anything in the store to null out any gender issues. The level of care and consideration for all walks of people is something that was lacking up until now.
The avatars themselves also come to life with the redesigned face, actions, attitudes, and so much more customization options. Bryan Saftler, a Lead Product Manager for Xbox says, “We built these from the ground-up, they’re being built in Unity which is a whole new engine. Avatars are meant for whatever you want your digital self to represent. We don’t want to put you in a box, there are no more checkboxes, no matter what you think you look like or what you want to present online.” An official release date for the update has yet to be announced, however, this is something that will likely be released in early 2018 so keep your eyes out for it!

    Hall of Fame 2017 Inductees

Today we announce the 2017 Hall of Fame inductees and the two members who will be joining. These members truly inspire, speak, and act accordingly with Knowledge Strength and Integrity.
    KSI Nex Addo
Nex Addo is currently the Director of Departments and has held many titles before and reached the rank of Co-Division Leader. He has been in KSI roughly 7 years and earned News Staff of the Year 3 times. He started off in the news team before furthering his time in web operation where he currently strives to push the best for KSI Global and looks for the departments to as well.
    KSI Grey Wolf 7
Grey Wolf started in early 2014 as a captain in Synthetic Reality then transferring as Founder to AD. Grey Wolf became Senior Director  for his efforts in KSI and oversaw Wolf's Den (X360) after KSI went almost entirely Xbox One, being the only leadership present still on Xbox 360. Grey Wolf retired early in 2017 but we are still honoring his work with this induction.
Congratulations to both on reaching the ultimate achievement. Thank you for your service to KSI.

The Difference Between a Boss and a Leader.

Would you define yourself as a boss or a leader? Remember your answer and when this article is over, re-evaluate your response. My personal definition of a boss is someone who is in power and solely uses their power for advancement whereas a leader to me my personal definition for a leader is someone who has followers that they support, guide, and lead to bigger and better expectations. But what is the real definition. A boss is defined as “a person in charge of a worker or organization.” A leader is defined as “the person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country.” Looking at the two they are almost similar by definition, but, that is truly not the case. I am going to go over the 9 differences between a leader and a boss.
The first difference is shown as a boss being impersonal; having no true personality or character. A leader is usually known to be compassionate and caring of those around them. This is shown in a number of ways, but the most important is a leader will take care of those around them before being concerned about themselves. How would you define yourself in this aspect, as a leader or a boss?
Moving on to the next difference. A boss is one that usually says “I” when referring to accomplishments or accolades. A leader is one who truly steps up and says “We” when referring to the accomplishments or accolades of their team or group. A leader gives their praise straight to those who work for and under them as a thanks while a boss takes the praise for their own advancement as I said before. KSI has had many leaders over the years who give it all to their members. But we have also had some “bosses”.
The next difference is a big one when it comes to KSI. A boss uses people for their own personal gain and glory, while a leader develops people into leaders in their own right. Have you ever known someone in KSI who simply uses people that can build a squad or division for just that, building a squad or division? I have known many through my years in KSI and my journey to where I am today. I have also known some leaders who have developed me (as well as others) into the leaders we are today. The influence their leadership styles have had to those around them is something that will never disappear or get old. Do you use people or develop people?
Another huge difference and another big one for me personally is most Bosses inspire fear in the individuals they are over, while leaders earn the respect of those they are over and work with. Lets go into more detail on this one. Have you ever had a boss you were afraid to bring things to because of their reaction and what could come from it? Have you ever had a boss you knew would give you a hard time if you messed up and so for that purpose you tried maybe harder then you should have in your work? I know I have, and those are the people we want to get rid of as soon as we can because those type of “leadership” styles roll down hill and you WILL pick up on it if under it for long enough. In the same instance have you ever had a leader that absolutely earned your respect because of their hard work and way they handled situations? I know I have, and I am currently under one of those leaders. His name is KSI Zeuswrath 7, Zeus always ensures he earns his members respect, no matter their rank or position in KSI. Zeus is big on doing things that he has done before and know that works, and if it doesn't he is not afraid to admit when he is wrong or ask for help or suggestions from the leaders around him. Are you like Zeus or like the many failed “bosses” in KSI history?
The next difference is one that a lot of people truly take for granted. A boss will take credit and dish out blame while a leader will give out credit and take the blame. A boss is someone who simply think they are the only ones in their universe; they are the only thing in existence. So to them, taking the credit for everything is just normal. What they fail to comprehend is that they have individuals working for them who usually look to them for guidance and direction, but they usually overlook that and don't take care of those under them. A leader on the other hand is someone who you can count on to give you guidance and direction and when things go good they give you more then the fair share of the credit and usually give themselves less then the fair share while also taking more then the fair share of the blame. A good example of this in KSI is KSI Mizz Airy, I see a lot that she works her butt off to make sure things are running smoothly and a lot of what she set up in LE is truly flourishing. She doesn't take all that credit though, instead she gives it to those under her because they worked just as hard. When things go wrong she takes the blame and helps fix the issue. That is a true leader.
Another big difference between a leader and a boss, is that a boss micromanages to ensure things are done their way. A leader is one who delegates tasks tailored to the strength of the people working for them. The way I see is, a boss is going to come to you and interfere with your space, task, or job to try and get it done their way, which might not always be the right way. Sometimes it is better to take a step back and look at what the final outcome will be, whether that is what your boss asks you to do or not. When a leader delegates these tasks they are merely overlooking the work of those underneath them while ensuring they are being done by the proper person, with the proper training, and in a proper amount of time. The difference is easy to tell in a person in KSI, there are some who will simply step into your squad and handle everything when it could have been done at a much lower level, that would be a boss. You also have the person who is going to guide you in the right direction, while also giving you some back-up in case you need them. They will only reach into your squad when needed depending on the situation. That is a leader.
The next difference and a big one when it comes to defining any leader is when they say “Lets go” compared to a boss which says “go.” A boss is typically one who is going to say “Go” when giving orders or directions. They are going to tell you to get something done without helping or even guiding you through the right path of doing it. A true leader is always willing to do anything they give you task wise themselves if need be. They will always be there to ease the pain and help lower the burden when things don’t go right and when they do go right, they will be right there beside you. This one kind of ties into the next one so Im gonna combine them. The difference in a Leader Vs a Boss is the fact that a leader thinks much longer term then a boss. A boss is really only concerned with short term building and growth rather then long term building and growth. KSI leaders can be one or the other, either they are constantly pushing for recruits or they are pushing for recruiting and training all at the same time to build the next generation of great leaders.
The last difference and again to me is a big one is boss’s seem to focus more on the process of getting things done instead of the people doing it. This is where training within KSI comes in to play. A KSI leader need to be always pushing for training. We need to push people to see the light at the end of the tunnel, instead of what is directly in front of them. When you focus solely on the process you get quick usually not very long lasting outcomes. When you focus on the people and combine that with the process you get a good combination of both.
Now that we have gone over these differences, where do you see yourself as a leader? Where do you see the person to the left and right of you? I know where I see myself and the people around me. Only you can change who you are or how you act as a leader. Only you can change your legacy.

Rainbow Six Siege DLC Year Plan

Recently, Ubisoft has detailed plans for micro transactions within its upcoming first-person shooter, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Also revealed are the company’s plans for Rainbow Six Siege DLC, which will be coming over the course of the next 12 months.

According to Ubisoft, the recently delayed Rainbow Six Siege is to see four content expansions in 2016. Each expansion will add one new map and two characters (known as operators), each armed with a unique gadget, as well as a new primary and secondary weapon.

The Road map below shows details about Ubisoft’s plan for release dates, currently aimed for January, April, July and October with exact dates to be confirmed sometime in the future. The Road map also states that new game modes will be available, but it is uncertain as to whether we will see any more single player content, or whether the DLC will be solely multiplayer-based.

Ubisoft announced last September that Rainbow Six Siege DLC maps will be coming free to all players in addition to the 10 initial multiplayer maps already in the base game. To support this decision, players will use an in-game currency called Renown in the game’s multiplayer, which can be purchased using real money. Renown can also be earned by playing the game and can be used to purchase new characters and weapon skins.

Clumsy players may even end up losing Renown, as killing teammates will have a negative impact on your totals. Rainbow Six developers have estimated that each player should earn around 1000 Renown per hour of gameplay, but it should be noted that each operator requires 25,000 renown to purchase.

Players who don’t feel like putting in the hours have another option: buying R6 Credits. These credits act as second in-game currency, available for $4.99 for a pack of 600, which can be used to buy a number of cosmetic features that cannot be obtained through other means. 600 Credits is also the amount needed to buy an operator that would otherwise take roughly 25 hours to unlock. Ubisoft have stressed, though, that the premium skins solely available for purchase with R6 Credits are purely decorative and will not affect gameplay in any way.

    Kered interviews JT

We'll start with some lighter questions before we jump into the KSI specific stuff, give a chance for the members to get to know you a little better.
Kered: Other than being the KSI Webmaster and your real life job, what are some of the things you like doing?

JT: "I like to keep myself busy with a variety of different things. I am huge into everything technology from hardware to software. I dabble in a lot of programming languages because I like to find out how things work. On the other end of the spectrum I have a huge motorcycle obsessions. The feeling of riding is amazing, nothing like it. Just like with technology I also make it a habit to “tinker” with my bike. I have taken it apart multiple times for a variety of reasons, sometimes to upgrade a part, other times just because I want to see how it all fits together. My last and newest hobby would be home brewing, once again I think this stems from the same concept as my other hobbies. I wanted to see how beer was made and how subtle changes can make a difference."
Kered: When did you first get interested in coding and web site management, and what brought you to stick with it?

JT: "Actually it all started with KSI. I was young and was already playing around with a lot of software/hardware but nothing in the realm of websites. When I joined our website had zero interactivity, and was basically an information page (which wasn’t much) with a flash header (which wasn’t bad for the time). I was so excited when I first joined that I wanted to help however I could. So I went to one of the best (and sometimes worst) resources we have GOOGLE. I started reading all sorts of stuff from tutorials to reviews of different CMS (Content management systems). When we first changed the website to E107 I knew little about PHP or MYSQL. I was literally figuring it all out as I went. The more I learned, the more I wanted to learn. At the time that is why I stuck with it, now it is different for me. I no longer have as much time to be around the community; however, KSI has taught me so much over my 14+ years. I run and maintain everything now so the community has the resources to be a rock for someone that maybe is in a bad spot and gaming is what gives them peace and keeps them out of trouble."

Kered: Inside and outside of KSI, do you have any role models you look up to and why do you look up to them?

JT: "I can’t really name any specific role models. I think anyone at any time can do things to be considered a role model. But at the same time none of us are perfect. So I try to look at everyone around me and try to resemble the best of them."

Kered: What are some things that you absolutely hate and why?

JT: "Mustard and Mayo. It tastes gross! Hate is a strong word and I don’t really like to use it. One thing that bothers me is when I know what the right answer or solution is and I am unable to do anything about it

But Seriously I hate Mustard & Mayo"

Kered: What would be your chosen superpower and what is your spirit animal? (If you can't make this answer funny, lord help us.)

JT: "Superpower…. I would have to go with speed. Simply because think of everything you could get done if you could move 30x or even just 10x faster then normal. I could have been done with this interview a while back now. On a serious note, think of all the good you could do, the things you would have time to learn. It would be amazing! Plus I just like going fast.

As far as a spirit animal I guess a Lion (according to some random 10 question online quiz I found just now on Google)."

Kered: As it stands, you are the longest standing member of KSI. One of the original Creators of our community. That being said, the story of your recruitment probably isn't know by many people. Mind telling us your recruitment story?

JT: "Well it all started back on the original Rainbow Six Three on the original Xbox. KSI was still relatively new and just started playing Rainbow Six. I don’t remember the exact details of how I came across KSI but I was invited to play in a tournament they were hosting. I ended up winning and afterwards I was talking with Bill (KSI Natas 7) and Wvern (KSI Wvern 7 – Don’t recall the spelling he has been retired for a long time now) and we all just clicked and shortly afterwards I started helping on the website and then revamped it multiple times. Not a great story but the journey has been awesome."

Kered: How did you first come to hear about the community and who's idea was it to create the forums?

JT: "I stumbled upon KSI on Rainbow Six Three on the original Xbox. I knew we needed somewhere for everyone to write down ideas and conversations instead of just Xbox live messages. So after we changed the front page we started the forums a couple of months or so later."

Kered: You've been the leader and the owner of the forums since their conception. Which means you've seen many different eras and leadership on here. In your opinion, what was the "Golden Age" of the KSI forums and what made it such?

JT: "I can’t really declare any time a Golden Age. I think the needs of the community have fluctuated over time and we have continued to change. To answer your question though, I think the Halo 2 days were probably the most active days we had."

Kered: It's been debated for many years the usefulness of the forums. Discussed whether or not there would be benefits for pushing our members and leaders to sign up and stay active. Some say the recent technological advances (social media, discord, skype, IM'ing, etc) have left forums obsolete. Some say that the forums are a product of a by gone era. What is your stance on that?

JT: "I don’t think forcing people to do anything will help any situation. The forums are a tool, they can be used in a variety of ways. Are there other tools out there we can use instead? Yes. Will those are tools show the world our strength and unity? No. Discord is a great tool however it is private, which it is meant to be. However I think our use vs the forums is short sighted. If we want to continue to grow and do new and exciting things for our members that requires money. If you go to a website and it is just news and no active community, you probably are not going to be as excited about it."

Kered: Why are the forums important to our community and what can they offer our members?

JT: "Well like I said the forums are a tool, if we truly want to continue to grow we need a stable platform as a base. Chat applications come and go as we have seen in the past."

Kered: Again, going back to you being the longest standing member in KSI, have you ever had an interest in joining Clan Operations of the years?

JT: "I don’t consider myself to be outside of clan operations. If you are referring to running divisions and such, I would not be a good fit for that role, especially now. It takes a lot to run a division or even a successful squad. I don’t have the time to dedicate to that, ultimately I think it would hurt the community and that is the last thing I want to do. If something changes to where I have more time to dedicate I would consider it."

Kered: Has there ever been a moment where you thought you would be more beneficial to the community if you joined Clan-Ops, specifically at moments of crisis(i.e. LS split, creation of KSI United, split of .org)?

JT: "Like I said, I don’t consider myself separate from clan ops. Over the years I have dealt with a lot of the hurdles and bumps in the road. Albeit behind the scenes, but still very much involved."

Kered: Lastly, any parting words of wisdom for our members of KSI?

JT: "KSI is what you make it. If you just want to play games. Awesome. Want to become a leader and learn new skills(conflict resolution, etc) Awesome! Want to learn how to do Graphics? Awesome. Code? Awesome. I do what I do so that future generations can have a great community to be in just as I did."
