Forum Rules & Regulations [Updated 08.29.15]

The Rules of The Land   Welcome to the KSI Forums. Our rules our pretty short, simple (and sometimes sweet & chewy). We (The Forum Staff) ask that you follow them at all times. Otherwise, Charlie will kick your butt.   Let's get down to business.     Your Rights: You have the right to remain here. Provided you follow the rules, or pay tribute in the form of Dr. Pepper.
Remember the KSI Code of Conduct? That still applies here. Remember the Forum Disclaimer? That applies too.
You have the right to have ONE and ONLY ONE forum account. All others will be found, will be subject to shock-therapy and Chinese water torture, and subsequently forcibly removed with the equivalent force of a nuclear bomb... Or a forum ban. (If you feel wrongful action was taken against you, contact a forum staff member).
Please don't post content that may be: Abusive, Obscene, Vulgar, Slanderous, Hateful, Threatening, Sexually-oriented, or just overall disrespectful. We will remove it, we will remove you, and then we'll go back to playing our games, and eating cheese puffs.
Be courteous to others. Even if you don't like them. We don't particularly care what reasons you have, which may or may not include: "They stole my pink doll (or "action figure") " or "They brought my K/D in the negative."
We ask politely that you keep your pictures of your cat out of the shoutbox. Or any other pictures for that matter. or videos, or GIFs (It's pronounced like Gift without the T, btw...), or basically any media that may stretch the shoutbox or cause inconvenience for others. Nobody likes an inconvenience.
Please follow any forum specific rules which may be conveniently posted in a Pinned Topic in the specific forums or in an Announcement of that forum. Failure to do so may result in a Nerf War or worse.
Please don't use the forums as your personal marketplace. We don't appreciate your requests for 48-hours, or your lovely ads for male-enhancement drugs.
We have the following tools at our disposal. Topic Locks, Topic Deletions, Post Deletions, Post Suspensions, Forum Suspensions, Forum Bans, IP Bans, Starvations, Executions, Floggings, Shock Therapy, and Good Ol' Fashioned Beatings with Leather Belts.
Oh, did we mention that we may use those tools at any time, for any reason we feel necessary, possibly without warning? Including if you break any of the rules listed here OR if we ask you to stop and you continue like a child in a supermarket? Yes, ... we may.
We ask you use Common Sense around the forums. That's all.
And of course the essential "We may alter these rules at any time without notice" statement which we will place here.
Play nice, here's a cookie, Game On!

Guide for Easy Forums Usage [Updated 05.16.17]   03/12/2017

KSI Forums Guidebook / FAQs 2017 Edition This guide is intended for new users to the KSI Global Gaming Network official forums website or those who are unfamiliar with IPBoard forums pages. The below information is only to get new users on track towards becoming a true professional forums user but cannot possibly answer all questions that may arise on an individual basis. For any questions that remain at the end of this guide, feel free to message a member of the KSI Moderation and Administration Staff for help -- they would love to see everyone active on the site and will help no matter how minor of an issue is presented. Section 1 - Making Topics / Posting The KSI Global Gaming Network is home to many different forums sections and subsections for members to chat among a number of different things from general topics, such as games, sports, music and movies, and anime and manga, to chats between members of KSI's divisions and squads. The KSI Forums website is a great tool for communication between members all throughout the KSI Global Gaming Network which all starts with creating new topics and posting on existing ones. If you go to a section that does not have a topic that you wish to discuss between other users on the site, you are encouraged to create a new in the area most suited for the topic. For example, if you want to discuss the sporting event that is coming up this week, the “Sports” subsection under the “General Discussion” section, most relates to the topic. By going to the section you will see a button listed as “Start New Topic”. Clicking this will bring you to the “Topic Editor” where you can create new topics. You will need to meet a few different criteria before your topic will go live - the topic must have a topic title and have some content associated with it as a first post (the tags is optional). Returning to the example of creating a topic for the upcoming sporting event, you may want to name your topic “Upcoming Sports Event” so that other users can get a feel for what they will be able to read in that topic. If you wish to tag items to the topic, tags such as “sports” and “events” may be appropriate but are not needed. In the bottom text box in the section you will want to provide some content to get a conversation started. In this example, maybe you post “I am excited for Team A to play and beat Team B, how about everyone else?” This will create a conversation between other users, thus making a for a good topic. The last step is to click “Post New Topic” and your topic will go live for others to see. Try not to create topics that have been already created as the KSI Moderation and Administration will close the topic if one already exists. The other side of the conversation on the KSI Forums is posting on existing topics. Posting on topics will have similar steps as creating a new topic. If you find a topic that you find interesting in any of the areas of the site, join in on the conversation! Go to the bottom of the page and you will see a chat input box. Once clicked on, the input box will look identical to how it does in the “Topic Editor”. Type in your message and click “Post” and your post will go live for other users.  Every instance that you post or create a new topic you will receive 1 post towards your total post count. Any posts or topics in the Spam / Watercooler section, however, are considered spam posts and topics, meaning they are complete and utter nonsense. The topics here may include topics such as a “Count to 1000” where you simply post the next number in succession. You will NOT receive 1 post towards your total post count as this is the only section the KSI Moderation and Administration Staff allow spam posting. Avoid double posting when you are creating a new topic and or post. This could mean one of two things. The first is if you did not include everything you meant to in your last post, instead of creating another post to correct it, on the bottom, far right of your post is the option to “Edit”. Clicking that will allow you to edit the content of your original post. The second way to avoid double posting is to give the site a few seconds to upload your post. Clicking the “Post” button a second or third time may cause the KSI Forums to lag and instead of posting faster, create multiple, identical posts. This does, in rare instances, happen randomly. If this happens, contact a member of the KSI Moderation and Administration Staff to clean up the extra post.   Section 2 - Shoutbox The Shoutbox is an instant chat messenger that the KSI Forums offers to users. To gain access to the shoutbox, you must have a minimum of 5 posts. The Shoutbox can be found and accessed at the top of most of all of the pages on the KSI Forums. Although there is a feature to prevent it, forcing all users to wait a minimum of 7 seconds to shout a second time in quick succession, be aware the flooding the Shoutbox with multiple shouts can be considered spamming. The Shoutbox is moderated the same way the rest of the site is so it is important to still follow the KSI Code of Conduct and KSI Forums Rules and Regulations when utilizing the Shoutbox.     Section 3 - Profile Edits Your personal profile on the KSI Forums holds all sorts of information about yourself that is provided by none other than yourself. It can be made however you want, serious, silly, whatever! When viewing any page, you will see your display name and image in the upper right hand corner of the website. Clicking your name will spin down a menu of options. To change your “About Me” and other profile specific customizations, go to “Profile”. Once on your profile, in the upper right hand corner of your cover photo will be an option to “Edit Profile”; clicking that will bring up a number of different options that can be changed at any point, as many times as you wish. Some key areas of the page to bring up is the ability to change your profile picture, adding contact and personal information if you wish (none of them are required), creating an “About Me” that will be displayed when users first view your page. To create a signature or change your display name which will display that the bottom of all your posts, you will have to modify your account settings. Go to the upper right hand corner of any page, click your display name and spin down the menu options, and go to “Account Settings”. On the left hand side will be a menu of options that you change change, the two most common being “Signature” and “Display Name”. You can change these to your liking and the edits will be shown on every instance of a post you have made.    Section 4 - Moderation and Administration Staff If after following the steps to any of these sections, or your question may not be answered by any of these sections, you can forward your inquiries to the KSI Moderation and Administration Staff. The members of the KSI Moderation and Administration Staff’s jobs, no matter Moderator or Administrator, is to work for the membership and will all gladly help out. It is important to follow the Chain of Command with your questions. Moderators are the lowest ranked members of the KSI Moderation and Administration Staff and are in the cyan color group. Global Moderators are the next level and are in the dark blue color group. If your question / request is about some out of their hands, you may need to contact an administrator (issues such as forgotten login information / profile merges cannot be completed by moderators). Although it is not lower in rank than any other administrator, the User Support Administrator is the best person to seek out as it is their job to help members with KSI Forums issues. There is also, even in rank with the User Support Administrator, the Technical Support Administrator. Above these two administrator positions is the Chief Administrator followed lastly by the Webmaster. Most issues / questions can be solved / fixed at a moderation level however, so do not skip right to an administration level for moderation level question.     *Original Guide created by: Kered **2017 Edition created by: Anatomy

  1. Promoting Productions

The KSI Productions Team is popping, but it still needs help from you, the viewers! In the Productions Section on the forums viewers can find a request box where they are able to post whatever comes to mind, and the KSI Productions Team will strive to turn these simple requests into reality. The minds of our KSI membership are some of the most creative minds out there, and the KSI Productions Team would like to tap into some of that raw talent hidden within our membership. Want to see a GTA V montage? We can do that! Want to see a fails video? We can do that Too! Once a request is made and completed, the final video will be posted on our official KSI YouTube for all to see. So if anyone has an idea that they'd love to see in video form, place a request in the box today! Why should I fill out one of these requests? Have you ever gone on YouTube and watched a montage or funny fails videos and said to yourself. "Those are really cool; I would love to make my own? "If so, KSI Productions can help - all you need to do is fill out a request form. As a member of the Productions team, I and the rest of the team would be more then happy to sit in a party with the requester and discuss even more details, such as what all you want in the video or what music. How long would a request take to finish? The finish time on a request depends on what you request or how good you want it to look. You also have to think about the editors' real life and how busy are they with work, school, or sports. A good montage will take up to a week with a normal to busy schedule. Will my video be on YouTube? That is up to you. The Productions team would love to upload your video to the KSI YouTube. If you are worried the video might turn out badly, worry not since all of the Productions have some type of software that it will make it look good. If we upload your video it helps us grow out in the world on social media and puts your name out in the community of KSI. People will be like, "Wow he is really good and make some cool clips. I want to play with him." The Productions team is here to take insight and new ideas from the community. The request form is just one new idea implemented. If you have any comments or other new ideas, leave them in the comment section.
  2. by KSI S0u1Gamerxx and KSI Zavala 7 A teacher, a trainer, a tutor. These are all words used in the same effect as a mentor, except, I feel that a mentor is more than that. They are a small minority of people, they who see potential and cultivate that. Like bees in a blossoming flower. Bees are a community; they live, work, teach, live, survive in the same hive. The mentor (bee) pollinates flowers but they specifically focus on blossoming flowers because they are the future. So just like the bees, mentors give there knowledge to the future for new leaders. To implant themselves into the men-tee but without destroying the ambition, passion and fire in their hearts. They have the ability to coach, these people into seeking and creating future goals. By having an open mind and a positive attitude, by being able to better themselves every time and create bigger goals as they grow. Men-tees, on the other hand, are like an untouched canvas, they are there waiting to be painted. They are open minded; they are just waiting to gain Knowledge, Strength and Integrity. He/she must wear many hats throughout the process. I don't mean process like a robot being built in a factory, I mean the development of the mind of a men-tee. This is a vital step in making a successful leader. Men-tee’s work to build skills, knowledge and abilities and become successful in all these key components. Their ability to qualify for receiving and acting on personal revelation is the single most important skill that can be acquired in this life. Successful men-tees recognize that relationships between mentor and men-tee takes time to develop like a blacksmith with his skill. They know that communication is a two way street, they help their mentor and vice verse. They are flexible, they move around their mentor, making room, time, and effort. But most important they are open minded; they will always consider all sides of the options An example of this is the relationship between myself (KSI S0u1Gamerxx) and Zeus (now known as KSI Zavala 7). I came into KSI, not knowing my ability, my strengths, my knowledge of KSI were very minimal, and my leadership qualities non-existent. Zeus was the person that I contacted and he instantly taught me about being a KSI member. He taught me to this day be who I am now - a leader. However the relationship between mentor and men-tee was built over a long period of time; it’s still growing today. Zeus has taught me to lead and be successful. He has taught me to be precise and consistent, like a shooter always hitting his targets. He told me to always define expectations, what he means by that is to set goals, make your mentor know what to expect from you. Following on from this he always asks to be positive in all situations apart form those where you feel you need to step in and to change or tweak any issues. ‘You’re the Night-Wing to my Batman, and we need to get these guys going!’ I love this quote by Zeus because it really does interpret what a mentor and men-tee should be defined as. They should never by opposite, however you can get cases where opposites attract like yin and yang. --------------------------------------------------------------- The relationship of mentor and mentee is much like a gardner and his garden to me, KSI Zavala 7. Sometimes a mentor will have a few mentees, and sometimes, such as with KSI Cali 7 is to me, there is only one. A mentor is like the embodiment of a solution, he has done the necessary training to do so; up holds that title. It's not given to you, but it's something that chooses you. Mentors hold the knowledge of knowing direction, placing things in set for the men-tee to use, and figure out how. I can say it's like a flame to light their darkest path or, watering seeds in the garden water symbolizes what we know, and we pour that to help the mentee grow and they eventually become a stem so we kick up the ingredients of their development, because at this point he's needing more than the water (knowledge). We now need Sunlight which is the motivation to get them going , fertilizer which is freedom, room to learn and experiment, then more water to aid in the phase of development. I can say Cali and I have mastered the relationship of Mentor and Men-tee. We share various ways of development like getting members to see their true potential, and communicating with our members to set a goal and accomplishing it without failure. This connection was built by trust and understanding our boundaries, meaning he's Ra's Al Ghul and I'm a very young Batman. I know I'm really good , but he can shape that greatness and focus it to a goal and not it being out of control. As you move into these two privileges you know that you play the Men-tee more than anything , because you learn from the experiences of your student that you teach. Let's embrace our learning and lead by example.
  3. A Letter to KSI

Dear KSI, When I first met you, I didn’t know what to think. I had been on Xbox Live since Call of Duty 3 and never thought of joining a clan before. I had 5 friends who I gamed with every day; we were COD Pubstompers and were content with getting on and immediately disappearing into a party together for hours each day. I received messages throughout the years - DHG, XGC, a slew of small upstarts. At the time, I was settled in my place with the friends I had. As time went on, my friends’ schedules changed. Some of them got off way too early for my work schedule, and I found myself riding solo a lot until I was hit up by a KSI member on Modern Warfare 2 who sent me a similar generic message post game. I’d dismissed the idea in the past, but there I was in a position where my routine had been disrupted and figured maybe it was time to try something new. I sent him a message back, joined a party and went through the recruitment process. I was placed in Ancient Armada, Sigma Squad. I met a few people here and there but stayed close with my recruiter. He was a good talker, knew a lot about KSI and had this motivational knack to him. I stayed for about 6-7 months then had my final year at University to deal with. I heard a lot of stuff happened a few months after I left so I figured when the time was right I would rejoin you. That took about 2 years to happen, during which I dabbled a bit in a smaller clan before being prompted to rejoin you with my initial recruiter. We had just reopened a division AD (After Death), and I was put in Oblivion as a Sergeant to start, which quickly turned to Lieutenant 2 weeks later after I had shaken off my rust. From there, I was pushed to General after the loss of our entire officer staff. With no idea what I was doing initially, I used communication, asked questions, and had a sense of pride in succeeding that quickly showed me that the possibility of being a leader here was real. When I joined, I thought I would never reach that echelon…this place was “too big and too vast to notice me”. I had a lot of time on my hands while I was recovering from some problems and limited to my house for at least 2 months. You kept me distracted, gave me a home, gave me redemption in a sense that traveled into my real life. I chose to pursue that “impossible task” I felt was at hand. That motivation made me want to learn as much as I possibly could, not just from leaders, but from members that I interacted with daily. I stayed passionate about what I learned from rebuilding that squad, and I tried to make sure everyone mattered below me. Soon I was travelling upward to Founder, Co-Division Leader, Division Leader. I poured my heart into this place and truly felt like I was making a difference, teaching people to find potential they never knew existed. I made my goal to show everyone I encountered just how amazing you have been to me. I’ve found myself on the wrong side of people’s pasts, found adversity since the moment I felt the pressure of a squad that needed me to succeed. I found those impossible ranks and none of it was easy, I was judged by who recruited me, I was underestimated on a consistent basis…I still am. By people that lost their purpose here years ago, people that left and let power, rank, influence corrupt the true meaning behind why we do this. I never let it stop me, I never once let myself see the point of view of those people. I stayed true to you and the people that inhabit this place, I have peers that encourage me and see how much I care. I promise you that no title or rank here will ever turn me away from the purpose of holding it, and I am sure every Senior Leader of this community can attest to the same. Education will always come before politics, and the members will always supersede my personal feelings. People count on me every day to teach them new things, show them the road I took to be who I am now…and I promise you I won’t let them down. That no matter what I am labeled, how am I judged or what is assumed of me that you will know, the members will know and I will know that I never stopped being that General who thought it was impossible to ever be noticed here. It makes me respect the titles I hold, makes me realize that the fabric of what this place is will always be bigger than myself. Even if I make mistakes, I will never hide behind them, you deserve better than that. Thank you, KSI, for helping me see a purpose on this console that most people consider purposeless. Thank you for keeping me distracted during rough times in my life and showing me that “impossible” is just a formality. Thank you for the people who loved you enough to stay here and teach me what they know, regardless of their pasts. Thank you for reminding me each day that even if people don’t understand now, they will if I keep trying. For keeping me humble, giving me the opportunities I’ve had to make a change. Finally, thank you for the retractors over the years, for situations that seemed too severe to overcome…they have only made me stronger. I’ll never give up on you…because you never gave up on me, no matter how “big or vast” you got. Sincerely, KSI Cali 7
  4. People Come and Go...

...BUT KSI WILL NEVER DIE After over a decade of being around this community, a lot of things start to come into perspective. One of the sayings heard around KSI, even years ago, was "People come and go, but KSI will never die." Seems kind of insensitive at first, doesn't it? After all, every person should matter. And they do. Every person has the ability to contribute great things to KSI and to better themselves through those efforts. But that's the thing, it's up to each individual to decide how much energy they want to put forth. And, in the end, if they want to depart from KSI, that's also their choice. There is so much potential brimming in this community. People from literally all over the world and tons of skill sets take part in the various divisions. Thousands of people are bonding together, learning together, and gaming together. Those bonds can mean you make the best friends in your online life. And if one of them leaves, it can be really painful, more so than you'd think possible with this being an online community. Then you're faced with a decision to follow your friends out the door or stay and continue to push forward with KSI and make other friends. Either way, KSI will survive to see another day, another month, another year. And, for the most part, the community will welcome back those who decided it wasn't for them at that point in time. They'll come back someday. Or they won't. But KSI will never die.
